DOG DANCING
Clicker Camp 2006

Text and photos: Emmy Marie Simonsen

Clicker Camp is a week of dog training! About 50 handlers meet to learn more, have fun with their dogs and spend a week of their summer holiday with other dog lovers and enthusiast. The handlers can attend different 2 days seminars depending on what they want to do with their dogs. 2006 was the first year, where dog dancing was offered at Clicker Camp and it was sold out a few days after they opened for entries.

I was invited to teach the HTM seminar and I was happy to accept!

It is not easy to learn a new routine by heart...

Heidi was already quite experienced...
She is a KC authorized HTM judge and has performed at her first competitions

Inger had been to other training days before Clicker Camp,
so she knew the basics and did very well at her Clicker Camp demo

The next 6 handlers had their dancing debut at Clicker Camp :-)

Else-Marie and her Icelandic Sheepdog

Viv and her smooth BC Josie

Karen and one of her Beagles - Soks

Shiela's lovely Doberman Molly - she was such a nice dog.

Mette's own Australian Shepherd was poorly and couldn't come with her to Clicker Camp.
She had borrowed a very good beagle for the training, but by the end of day 2 it had had enough of dancing,
so Mette did her last performance with Whisper. Well done Mette - it is not easy to dance with a very excited dog that
knows lots of hand cues... you got very good at keeping your hands still and use verbal commands :-).

Sorry - I have no photos of Tove and Iben, but they were there and they did well :-)

Thank you everybody for making Clicker Camp so much fun. Your excitement about this sport made it easy to teach. Good luck with your dancing. I hope to see you at a competition some day (maybe in October???).
